Why fake it?

As an admittedly imperfect and slightly self-loathing woman, when I get a compliment, I am torn between being pleased and being suspicious. He's having trouble finding friends, he's getting frustrated with how every day is kind of the same and it's getting to be a problem.

I like our life, I like my job, I have great friends and it's going great.

He also has found a good job and we've been together here for over a year, steady and as a real couple.
